Confessions of a Lonely Soul by Harold L. Turley II

I am a member of another book club and this is the title that was voted for this month's reading selection. I am not familiar with this author's body of work...hopefully this read will not disappoint.

In life, DeMarco Reid was known as a loving husband, who was also dedicated to his work and to advancing the cause of AIDS research. But in death, he exposes secrets of his tormented life, that could tear his family apart.

When a prerecorded message from DeMarco plays during his tear-filled wake, friends and family are happy to see him again. But when he opens his mouth, he divulges dark information no one ever knew—that his beloved, pregnant wife, Lia, killed herself because she contracted HIV when she was unfaithful, and passed it on to him. And that’s just where it starts. After all, there are two sides to every story, and this grief-stricken family may be hiding some shocking secrets of their own... Explicit sex, violence, language and content.

I SO did not like the book. I think that the writing lacked critical development...so much happened in the first chapter...however, the author did not do a good job of continuing with that level of detail. The story moved way too quickly, and the ending did not bring things together. Maybe, Mr. Turley was making way for a sequel, if this is the case, I'll pass. I believe this is a freshman effort, so maybe his later works will show growth.
